Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market Anatoly Aksakov said that the lower house of parliament could introduce changes to the legislation on a progressive tax scale already in the spring session. He considers the modernization of the tax scale to be the right decision and suggested that the increase in the personal income tax rate should affect Russians with an annual income of 1 million rubles. In 2024, the spring session of the State Duma will be held from January 9 to August 4.

“Obviously, this will fill our budget. Moreover, the options that are now being voiced, in my opinion, are quite reasonable – when people will pay increased taxes on income over 1 million rubles. and if 5 million rubles. or higher, then pay even higher taxes – 20%,” said the head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market “Parliamentary newspaper”.

“80% of five million, for example, is a decent amount that allows you to live comfortably. Therefore, the introduction of a progressive tax scale is the right decision that needs to be implemented quickly,” the parliamentarian said.

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, the deputy explained that an increased personal income tax rate of 15% should be applied starting from an annual income of 1 million rubles.
