People’s Artist of Russia Liya Akhedzhakova said that the play “The Gin Game” was removed from the repertoire of Sovremennik, the last production in which the actress played in this theater, RBC reports.
It is reported that the director of the theater Yuri Kravets told the artist about this, who was forced to remove the performance due to the fact that the theater was “filled up with angry letters” addressed to the actress.
It is noted that in the fall of 2022, the play “First Bread”, in which Akhedzhakova played the main role, disappeared from the theater’s repertoire. Earlier, the organization “Officers of Russia” appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a demand to check this production because of “propaganda of same-sex love” and “excessive use of profanity.”
Liya Akhedzhakova has repeatedly spoken out against the SVO in Ukraine. In 2015, she was included by Kyiv in the white list of Russian cultural figures, who, according to the Ukrainian authorities, support the integrity of Ukraine.
It was also reported that Vitaly Borodin, the head of the Federal Project for Security and Combating Corruption, sent a letter to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation in which he demanded to consider the issue of recognizing Akhedzhakova as a foreign agent and deprive her of awards and honorary titles, the possession of which, in his opinion, “is incompatible with the nature of her public statements regarding the policy of the Russian Federation”.
