AirForceTimes: S-300 complex “deceives” F-35 pilots

The Russian S-300 complex came as an unpleasant surprise for the pilots of American F-35 fighters who patrolled near Russian borders, the AirForceTimes website writes.
Reportedly, American pilots were not always able to recognize them, which is due to the presence of digital methods for avoiding detection in the S-300.
One of the pilots said that he visually observed the S-300 complex, but the aircraft could not identify it. Another American pilot noted that even during visual contact, the parties manage without mutual provocations.
“They do what we do. We just looked at each other. … No direct interaction and nothing unprofessional on either side,” he said.
Earlier, the Pentagon announced the deployment of up to eight of the latest F-35 fighter jets and three dozen AH-64 attack helicopters to reinforce NATO’s eastern flank.
