Airborne troops of the Russian Federation for the first time received heavy flamethrower systems “Solntsepek”

In the Saratov region, a ceremony was held to hand over the heavy flamethrower systems Solntsepek to the Airborne Forces. The Airborne Forces received such equipment for the first time, the RF Ministry of Defense reported. The agency notes that the crews heading to the zone of military operation “demonstrated the readiness of vehicles and personnel to perform combat missions.”

“Solntsepeki” are in service with the troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection (RHBZ). The weapon destroys targets with the massive use of unguided rockets in thermobaric and smoke-incendiary equipment. Designed to destroy lightly armored vehicles, vehicles, buildings, fortifications and enemy manpower in them at a distance of up to 6 km.

The Airborne Forces received modernized TOS-1A Solntsepek combat vehicles. The transfer took place in one of the formations of the RKhBZ troops. Colonel Aleksey Goncharov, head of the RKhBZ service of the Airborne Forces, called the vehicles “a formidable weapon that has no equal in the arsenals of the collective West and which induces panic in our enemies.” “I am sure that its skillful use will bring our victory closer,” the Ministry of Defense quoted Mr. Goncharov as saying (quote from Interfax).

The Ministry of Defense claims that the “Solntsepeki” showed a good result in the destruction of the enemy’s fortified strongholds during the military operation in Ukraine. The fire is conducted with the help of the latest software systems of topographic and geodetic reference.
