The Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) issued Myanmar Airways International (Myanmar) a permit to operate flights on the Mandalay-Novosibirsk-Mandalay route. The airline will make its first flight on September 5.
How clarified in the Federal Air Transport Agency, flights on the Mandalay-Novosibirsk-Mandalay route will be operated by A319 aircraft twice a week. The A319 aircraft is capable of carrying from 124 to 156 passengers.
“Direct regular flights with Myanmar are being restored after a thirty-year break. Until 1993, Aeroflot had been operating flights to Yangon (Rangoon) since 1962,” the agency noted.
In February, consultations were held in Moscow between the aviation authorities of Russia and Myanmar. In particular, they discussed the draft of a new intergovernmental agreement on air traffic and agreed on the commercial rights of the designated airlines. In July, Myanmar opened visa-free entry for Russian tourists and businessmen. Without a visa, you can stay in Myanmar for 30 days.
