Aftonbladet: a resident of Sweden decided to burn the NATO charter instead of the Koran

Newspaper Aftonbladet reported that against the backdrop of Turkey’s agreement to ratify Sweden’s application to join NATO, the Swedish activist decided to burn the charter of the North Atlantic Alliance instead of the Koran.
It is specified that a 29-year-old local resident had previously sent an application and received permission from law enforcement agencies to hold a demonstration with the burning of the Koran. He planned to hold his action on July 12.
According to the activist, he decided to arrange a demonstrative burning in order to slow down the process of Sweden’s entry into NATO. The man changed his mind after Turkish representatives announced their readiness to recognize Sweden’s membership in the alliance.
“At the demonstration about NATO and about Sweden, I will say a lot of things. For now, I want to apologize to everyone who was offended by my actions,” the activist said.
