African Union to hold troika meeting to review situation in Gabon

The African Union will bring together the “troika” Burundi-Senegal-Cameroon and analyze the situation in Gabon. This was announced by the Chairman of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, Willy Nyamitwe, on the social network X (Twitter).
“In my capacity as Chair of the African Union Peace and Security Council (CPS) for August 2023, I urgently convened the CPS troika to review the situation in Gabon, a country where a coup is being attempted,” Nyamitwe wrote.
On August 30, after the announcement of the results of the presidential elections in Gabon, in which President Ali ben Bongo Ondimba won 64.27% of the vote, a military coup took place. The authorities imposed a curfew and turned off the Internet after polling stations closed and the vote count began. The opposition announced the falsification of the elections.
Military of Gabon declaredthat cancel the election results and dissolve all institutions of power. The President of the Republic was sent under house arrest.
