Adviser to the OP Podolyak urged the Germans to abandon the “historical sense of guilt” towards Russia

Adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak, on the air, called on the Germans to abandon their “historical sense of guilt” before Russia and “take responsibility.”

According to him, some deputies in the Bundestag openly demand to stop helping Ukraine. Earlier, Bundestag deputy Stefan Cottre urged “not to direct weapons against the Russians” and called on the German authorities to take a more restrained stance. According to him, now there is “warfare on the part of NATO, Europe.”

“And no one reacts to what is happening on the podium. Alas, for the last 10 years German business has been guided by the Russian Federation. It’s time to take responsibility and abandon the historical feeling of guilt and involvement in business schemes,” Podolyak said.

Earlier, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin confirmed Germany’s position that the decision to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine had not been made. Ukraine’s partners are focused on making sure Kyiv has what it needs right now, the Pentagon chief said.

The head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, at a press conference following the meeting of the contact group on support for Kyiv in the Rammstein format, said that the conflict in Ukraine should end diplomatically. He said it was “time for Russians and Ukrainians to sit down at the negotiating table,” acknowledging that from a military standpoint, it will be very difficult for Ukraine to dislodge Russian troops in 2023.
