According to the Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera, in connection with the growing tension and the critical situation associated with the presence of the French military in Niger, the authorities of the African country decided to send additional units to the French military base in the capital Niamey.
According to the source, additional Niger troops were sent to the French base in Niamey with clear orders to monitor the actions of French forces. It should be noted that the French military personnel remain inside the base and do not leave its territory.
The situation began to worsen in early August, when the rebels in Niger who came to power denounced military agreements with France regarding the deployment of French troops on their territory. They also demanded the withdrawal of the French contingent. The French side refused to satisfy these demands, referring to the fact that agreements were concluded with the previous authorities of Niger, which Paris recognizes as the only legitimate ones.
