The leading actress of the Lenkom Theater Elena Shanina recalled how she met with Igor Yasulovich at GITIS, where he taught acting at the Department of Musical Theater and how she played with him in the play “War”, which was shown a lot both in Russia and at festivals abroad.

The gentlest soul and high decency people – there are no such people now. I was always amazed at how he cared about his students. No, he didn’t care, but worked to accommodate them after graduating from the institute. He didn’t just ask to see, but purposefully called everyone to plead for the guys. “Look, such a good boy” or “That’s such a good girl.” So only the father could ask.
God, God … “War” was played – a fantastic partner. She and Valera Garkalina were in line for the role of father. We traveled a lot with this performance to various European festivals. And, I remember how in Edinburgh, where after the performance only bars with booze were open and there was nowhere to eat, after playing the performance, he managed to run into the supermarket, buy a bottle of wine, food, roast meat himself … So that his wife Natasha, and that’s all we were fed. Such empathy and increased anxiety in a person for those who are nearby. And our conversations at airports, at train stations, with generally random meetings – never empty, not formal.
– All those who have recently left are sorry, but someone passes through your soul and leaves a mark on it. Igor Nikolayevich, of course, is one of those who left, – said Shanina.
