A terrible August has turned out for our art. Miroshnichenko, Borisov, Vasiliev… And on Saturday morning, an amazing person, artist, teacher Igor Yasulovich passed away. Everyone hoped that the 82-year-old artist, who played to the last, would get out of the hospital, where he ended up back in June. Yes, and he himself did not allow another thought. The artistic director of the Center for Drama and Directing (CDR) Vladimir Pankov, who spoke on the phone with Igor Nikolaevich quite recently, told MK that the artist discussed with him their last performance, Buffoon Pamfalone. For his role in this performance, Igor Yasulovich received the MK theater award.
= I just called him to ask about his health, he just came from the hospital, – says Pankov. – I didn’t even think about talking about the performance. And Igor Nikolaevich suddenly says to me: “Volodya, now I can’t do only two mise-en-scenes.” And the performance goes on for six hours, and everything is tightly tied to it. And almost all six hours he is on stage.
Pankov is now in Yekaterinburg on a production in a local drama. For him, the news of the death of the artist, whom he calls the Teacher, although he did not study with him, is shocking. Together they made two, I’m not afraid of this word, great performances – “War” and “Buffoon Pamfalon”.
– He is really a Teacher, a bright personality and a tuning fork for everything and everything, – continues Vladimir Pankov. – he set us all up with one of his appearances in the theater, one of his quiet words. How much tact and irony was in it. And he was always worried: “Something is a big break in rehearsals.”
