American actress Piper Laurie has died at the age of 91, her agent Marion Rosenberg said. Associated Press. She played the role of the sister of former sawmill owner Catherine Martell in the TV series Twin Peaks.
The agent reported that Ms. Laurie “died of old age.” Ms Rosenberg added that the actress “had extraordinary talent and was a wonderful person.”
Piper Laurie was born on January 22, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Her grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Poland and Russia. She received a Golden Globe for her performance in Twin Peaks. She was nominated for an Oscar three times – for her work in the films “The Rascal” (1962), “Carrie” (1976) and “Children of a Lesser God” (1986). Her other works include roles in the films The Billiard Player (1961), Return to Oz (1985), The Faculty (1998) and the TV series The Thorn Birds (1983).
