The government will propose to collect turnover fines for enterprises that pollute the environment from 2027, Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko said. The most persistent violators will be fined 5% of the gross proceeds.
“Turnover fines. Moreover, we have made very flexible corridors for these fines. If you, as a polluting enterprise, really carried out an environmental modernization program, reduced emissions – 0.1% of gross revenue. If you didn’t do anything – and we will find out in 2027 – 5%, ”said Ms. Abramchenko (quoted from TASS).
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the initiative has been agreed with all parties, including the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. In the near future, the draft will be submitted to the State Duma.
A government experiment in which businesses are required to reduce emissions in accordance with quotas, valid in Russia from 2021 and should last until 2027. Initially, enterprises from the 12 most unfavorable cities in terms of air quality participated in the experiment. In July 2022, the list was expanded to 41 cities.
