A court in Ukraine sentenced the deceased deputy chairman of the Russian administration of the Kherson region, Kirill Stremousov, in absentia to life imprisonment, the Ukrainian publication Graty reported.

The Malinovsky District Court of Odessa found him guilty of high treason and collaboration. The panel of judges also decided to confiscate Stremousov’s property and collect 13,000 hryvnia (about $360) in legal costs from him.

It is clarified that the sentence was imposed because the Ukrainian authorities cannot confirm the death of Stremousov. Stremousov died as a result of an accident on November 9, 2022. As stated by the chairman of the “We are together with Russia” movement, Vladimir Rogov, the culprit of the accident is the truck driver.

Stremousov is a political figure, deputy acting head of the Kherson region, chairman of the Salvation Committee for Peace and Order. He was previously a member of the Socialist Party of Ukraine. In 2009 he founded the Tavria News news agency.
