The Electoral Commission of St. Petersburg is checking a video recording of possible ballot stuffing

The City Electoral Commission of St. Petersburg promised to conduct an inspection of the work of the polling station in the last elections, which was suspected of manipulation of ballots. Earlier, a video from a surveillance camera from PEC No. 5 of the Admiralteysky District was circulated in the media, which captured how two women carried out some manipulations with a ballot box in the dark.

According to footage leaked online, in the dark, a woman crawled on her knees into the room where voting was taking place during the day with a stack of ballots in her hands. She threw the papers into the trash can, and was soon joined by a second woman, who, also on her knees, began to help throw stacks of papers inside the box. Next, the first lady lay down on the floor and placed the urn on herself, the second at that moment began to lift it and shake it. Presumably, these actions were supposed to shuffle the papers in the ballot box and break up the abandoned stacks of ballots. The camera recorded that in the next room, behind glass, there was a man in a security guard’s uniform, but he did not interfere with what was happening with the ballot box.

The head of the City Election Commission, Maxim Meiksin, said that an inspection of the work of the PEC and TEC No. 1, to which it reports, has been initiated.

“Fontanka” writesthat “the main character looks like the chairman of the PEC,” Irina Minyakova, who works as a music teacher at school No. 260. The journalists called the teacher and asked for a comment, to which the woman stated that from her “point of view, the video is unreliable.” According to her, in the evening she left the station, “that’s all,” and “the police remained inside.” The publication writes that the editors also obtained a half-hour excerpt from the recording, in which “the woman is even more recognizable and practically indistinguishable from the chairman of the precinct election commission.”

A number of local telegram channels write that the second heroine of the video looks like Irina Borovleva, who was the PEC secretary during the elections. She told reporters that she left school in the evening with her colleagues, and had not yet seen the video itself.
