Russian artilleryman Sergei Lazarenko told how he destroyed a Leopard 2 tank in the Northern Military District. According to him, the military equipment was destroyed immediately after the first shell. The serviceman noted that German tanks ignite very quickly.
“Orlan” saw the tank move into position. We quickly reacted and worked. We drove to the position, stood up, aimed, hit the target with an accurate hit from the very first round, and immediately put it down. It burns like matches… They burn from the first hit. They say they have some kind of armor,” the fighter said in a video published by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The military man himself did not immediately believe that he had destroyed Leopard 2. He gained confidence in this after watching the video.
The Russian Ministry of Defense noted that the military groupings of the “West” troops received cash certificates for the destruction of tanks in the Kupyansk direction. The funds (500 thousand rubles each) were allocated by Ural businessmen. Entrepreneurs regularly send humanitarian aid to the Northern Military District zone and support the Russian military.
After receiving awards, the fighters returned to their units.
