A restaurant in Ufa received the first halal certificate from Roskachestvo – Kommersant

The first public catering establishment in Russia was certified by the Halal Competence Center at Roskachestvo. It was the restaurant of Tatar cuisine “Zaman by Tubatay”, located in Ufa.

The Zaman by Tubatay restaurant opened in the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan in Ufa in September this year. The establishment prepares national dishes of Tatar cuisine from horse meat, lamb and veal. The menu includes traditional dishes with a modern twist, such as “Echpochmak-cake” and “Winged horse”.

Halal conformity mark. Certified by Roskachestvo” is a marking confirming product quality and compliance with all halal requirements and standards. Certification involves testing products for the absence of pig DNA. The concept of the establishment is also subject to verification: there should be no interior or design elements that contradict the ethics of Islam. The appearance of staff and methods of service must also comply with religious norms. Establishments that want to receive a mark of conformity are required to equip a prayer room for visitors and employees of the enterprise, they said “Roskachestvo – Halal”.

In Russia growing demand for halal products. In 2022, its exports increased by almost 50% compared to 2021 and exceeded 129 thousand tons. More than 90% of exported halal goods are poultry and offal. In addition, Russia exports halal confectionery and dairy products.

Previously, the certification body “Roskachestvo – Halal” gave out the first official halal certificate in Russia for the production of part of the products of the Red October confectionery factory. Among them were the candies “Alenka”, “Grilyazhnye”, “Kozinachki with salt”, “Bird’s milk”, chocolate “Alenka” and dark chocolate “Babaevsky”.

About 70 more companies hope to receive a Roskachestvo certificate in the near future.
