The winner of the 72nd Miss Universe beauty pageant was 23-year-old Shannice Alondra Palacios Cornejo, representing Nicaragua. The runner-up was the representative of Thailand, 27-year-old Anntonia Porsild.
The Miss Universe competition was held in Nicaragua. Representatives from 84 countries came to it, including 22-year-old Margarita Golubeva from St. Petersburg from Russia. She failed to make it into the top ten at the end of the competition. The next Miss Universe will be held in Mexico.
