A new sniper rifle in the dimensions of an assault rifle will appear in Russia in 2024

Russia is developing a new lightweight sniper and assault rifle in 308 win caliber, which can replace the LAR-10 “Counter” rifle. The founder of the company that developed this weapon, Lobaev Arms, Vladislav Lobaev, told RIA Novosti about this.
According to Mr. Lobaev, the new rifle will differ from the Smersh and the Counter in that it will be developed in accordance with the weight and size characteristics of the machine gun. “This will be a light rifle weighing 3.6 kilograms, that is, a kilogram lighter than the Counter and foreign rifles of this caliber,” he said, noting that the first prototypes will be ready in February-March 2024.
It is assumed that the production of all parts for this weapon will take place at Lobaev Arms. In November, RIA Novosti sources stated that rifles manufactured by Lobaev Arms LAR-10 “Counter” were planned to be tested for NATO cartridges (7.62 by 51 mm). In January, the agency’s interlocutors reported that the production of such rifles was already underway for the needs of the Russian army.
