A new permanent base for the Russian navy will appear on the Black Sea coast in Abkhazia. An agreement between Russia and Abkhazia has already been signed. This was reported by “Izvestia” President of partially recognized Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania.
“We have signed an agreement, and in the near future there will be a permanent base for the Russian Navy in the Ochamchira region,” said the President of Abkhazia. According to him, he personally inspected one of the small Russian missile ships.
Now in the city of Ochamchira there is a base for patrol ships of the coast guard of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia. It has been in effect since 2017. Plans to create a base for Black Sea Fleet ships in the Abkhazian port of Ochamchira were discussed back in early 2009.
From August 21 to September 1 of this year, joint military tactical and special flight exercises with Russia took place in four regions of Abkhazia.
