Often, when carrying out a given combat mission, military personnel take serious risks. Designers of military equipment are trying to reduce these risks as much as possible by shifting a number of tasks to robots. It is already difficult to surprise anyone with unmanned aerial vehicles carrying out reconnaissance and striking personnel or equipment. There are naval drones, sapper drones… So much has been invented in recent years. And not so long ago, a video with a universal unmanned armored platform “Barracuda” appeared on the Internet. One of its purposes is to evacuate the wounded from the battlefield.

The drone is designed specifically for the needs of military personnel in the area of ​​a special military operation. The ground drone is designed for evacuating the wounded, transporting cargo and reconnaissance. It is equipped with an electric motor, heavy-duty tracks and panoramic cameras.

All this allows the Barracuda to overcome almost any obstacle. Based on FPV technology, the inventors managed to create a robot with increased cross-country ability and load-carrying capacity. During testing, a platform with a load of three hundred and fifty kilograms was able to travel a distance of thirty kilometers from the operator through ditches and earthen embankments.

“Barracuda” was developed not by some large military design bureau, but by a group of volunteer enthusiasts. They hope that the robotic assistant will reliably serve soldiers on the front lines.

There are no secondary tasks at the front, but saving the lives of wounded military personnel, in conditions that do not allow doctors to evacuate, can perhaps still be called a priority. “MK” asked a military surgeon with the call sign “Cat”, performing tasks in the North Military District zone, to evaluate this invention from the point of view of a professional.

“This is really a very necessary invention,” the officer believes. – Firstly, the issue of camouflage has been thought through. The platform is electric and therefore silent. The low profile allows for the safe evacuation of victims on board. Plus good cross-country ability. The only downside, in my opinion, may be that the electric motor will not allow you to use the drone for a long time, since the battery will be discharged. Also, the device, most likely, will not be able to be used inside some engineering structures, in dugouts, trenches, and the like.

Of course, to ensure the operation of the platform, a drone operator alone is not enough; people are needed who can, for example, load a wounded person onto it. But in any case, this invention will be a very good help for delivering the “three hundred” (wounded) from the front end to the point where an evacuation vehicle can already arrive. Because often it is precisely in this segment that the enemy fires at our doctors with drones or mortars. Evacuation groups often come under sniper fire just as they are picking up the wounded and dead. So, I repeat, the invention is really necessary.
