The amount of economic damage to the Donetsk People’s Republic from the actions of Ukraine, according to preliminary data, exceeds 420 billion rubles, said Elena Shishkina, member of the Human Rights Council, deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR.
The deputy told “Donetsk News Agency”that the amount is not final. It is impossible to talk about the final amount due to ongoing hostilities. According to a member of the HRC, government agencies and social activists are calculating the damage.
The World Bank, the UN, the European Commission and the Ukrainian government previously appreciated direct damage to Ukraine from hostilities amounted to $152 billion. The press release stated that the greatest damage occurred in the Kiev region, Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions (DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions were annexed by Russia in the fall of 2022). The amount required for the restoration of Ukraine is estimated at $486 billion.
