A prominent Soviet military leader, Lieutenant General of Aviation Vasily Makarov died at the age of 98 in Moscow.
As MK learned, Vasily Ivanovich died on Friday night in his apartment in Gagarinsky Lane. Makarov devoted his entire life to aviation. After graduating from the General Staff Academy in 1969, he began working in various departments of the Ministry of Defense. Participated in combat operations in Afghanistan. He was considered one of the leading experts in the field of construction and use of the Aerospace Forces. Awarded the Order of the Red Star.
