A draft law on limiting the issuance of residence permits to Russians has been submitted to the Georgian Parliament

Opposition deputies of Georgia have prepared a bill, according to which it is proposed to limit the issuance of investment and short-term residence permits for Russian citizens until the end of 2024.
The bill was registered in the country’s parliament, Roman Gotsiridze, the initiator of the document, said.
An investment residence permit is issued to a foreign citizen for a period of five years, and a short-term residence permit is issued for one year, Gotsiridze said. A foreign citizen who has purchased real estate worth more than 300 thousand dollars receives a residence permit for five years, and if he remains the owner of this property during this period, he can receive a permanent residence permit together with family members. A short-term residence permit is issued upon acquisition of property worth $100,000.
