A man recruited by Ukrainian counterintelligence, who served in the ranks of the armed formations of Ukraine, surrendered to the Russian military, RIA Novosti reports. The initial recruit reportedly attempted to damage the Russian Buk complex.
Previously, he served in the 40th separate artillery brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In February 2023, he arbitrarily left his military unit and settled in his mother’s house in the village of Novokamenka, Kherson region, he argued his decision by his unwillingness to participate in hostilities.
Later, Ukrainian counterintelligence officers contacted him and threatened him to agree to carry out sabotage against the Russian military. The deserter said that he was threatened with murder “after the liberation of the Kherson region.”
Subsequently, the deserter went towards the Russian positions and surrendered to the guards.
