A deputy who visited Russia was expelled from the party in Japan

The Japan Renewal Society party expelled from its ranks deputy Muneo Suzuki, who visited Russia in early October. About it reports NHK TV channel.

The reason was that Suzuki did not notify the party leadership in advance about his trip to Russia. NHK notes that the deputy, in an interview with Russian media, also expressed confidence in Russia’s victory and said that he believes in the future of the Russian Federation. It is clarified that this fact was not included in the justification for the decision to expel him from the party.

Suzuki explained that the notification of the trip did not reach the party leadership in time due to a technical error. He added that he would accept the punishment, but at the same time admitted that he could go to court if it turns out that the reason for expulsion from the party was not only the delay in notification, but also his statement.

Muneo Suzuki was in Russia from October 1 to October 5. He became the first member of the Japanese parliament to visit the Russian Federation since February 2022. During the trip, Suzuki met with the Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission Sergei Glazyev, Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrei Rudenko, Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry and former Ambassador to Tokyo Mikhail Galuzin and Vice -Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.

The conversation with Galuzin took place at the request of the Japanese parliamentarian. During the conversation, the parties exchanged views “on a number of pressing international issues, including the situation around the Ukrainian crisis,” it was said in a message from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting with Rudenko, it was “stated that the baggage of interstate cooperation accumulated over decades is being purposefully destroyed today by the sanctions policy of official Tokyo to please the United States,” stated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During a conversation with Kosachev Suzuki statedthat he would like to “return Russian-Japanese relations to the state that was achieved” through the efforts of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
