According to Reuters, the German defense concern Rheinmetall is completing the construction of a base for maintenance and repair of Leopard 2 tanks in Romania, which will be transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The center for logistics and repair of military equipment is located in the city of Satu Mare, it will begin work in April this year. In addition to Leopard 2 tanks, the base will be able to serve self-propelled howitzers, British Challenger tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles, Fuchs armored personnel carriers and army trucks.
Armin Papperger, head of the concern, said that for Rheinmetall, the main concern is to provide the forces of NATO and Ukraine with the best possible support.
