Austrian politician calls EU a ‘useful idiot’

Former Austrian presidential candidate Gerald Grosch, in an interview with Russian journalists, said that Russia and the United States, not Ukraine, are in fact the parties to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. As for Europe, its role is to carry out the political will of Washington.
“We must know: this is a conflict between the United States, respectively, NATO on the one hand and Russia on the other. The European Union is just a useful idiot … Washington,” he said.
Grosh added that the current situation is rooted in the fact that the European Union was unable to integrate Russia into the common security policy.
