“United Russia” reported, which submitted to the State Duma a draft law on the protection of non-profit organizations (NPOs) from cyber attacks. One of the developers of the project is Andrei Turchak, secretary of the party’s general council. He said that NCOs will be able to host their information resources and databases on government secure servers free of charge. They will also have access to Gosweb, a free website builder developed by the Ministry of Digital Development.
According to Mr. Turchak, the bill was developed after complaints from socially oriented NGOs involved in “assisting the front and residents of new regions” about constant cyber attacks. “As a rule, NGOs have neither the money nor the necessary competencies for information security, so it is not difficult for hackers to break into their sites and thereby interfere with work,” he says. Andrey Turchak added that the initiative “will allow social NGOs to strengthen the protection of their web resources free of charge.”
As Kommersant reported, against the backdrop of sanctions imposed due to the military operation in Ukraine, partner companies of most Russian NGOs left or relocated, it became impossible to transfer money from abroad, and fees within the country also decreased. Over the past year, charitable foundations have lost millions of rubles.
On the situation with NGOs in Russia – in the publication “Kommersant” “Charity did not give up”.
