Grandmaster from Buryatia Zhamsaran Tsydypov won the silver medal in the finals of the Rapid Grand Prix of Russia – the Cup of Russia in men’s rapid chess. His result is 8.5 points, according to the press service of the Ministry of Sports of Buryatia.

– Already from the first rounds, Zhamsaran burst into the ranks of the leaders. After the 9th round, he was leading with a grandmaster from Moscow, Pavel Ponkratov. Unfortunately, on the final day, Zhamsaran brought all his four games to a draw, – they said in the Chess Federation of Buryatia. – As a result, he has 8.5 points, just like Alexei Pridorozhny from Surgut. An additional indicator brought the athlete to the 2nd place.

Currently, Zhamsaran Tsydypov continues to fight for the country’s Cup medal.
