Spartak lost to Metallurg in the first match of the 1/4 finals of the Gagarin Cup

The Moscow hockey club Spartak lost away to Magnitogorsk Metallurg with a score of 0:4 in the first match of the 1/4 finals of the Gagarin Cup. The teams will have to play three more matches – on March 19 in Magnitogorsk, and on March 21 and 23 in Moscow.
The goals were scored by Luke Johnson (9th minute), Dmitry Silantyev (13), Egor Yakovlev (37) and Nikita Grebenkin (60). Metallurg goalkeeper Ilya Nabokov saved 34 shots and scored his first clean sheet in the Gagarin Cup and fourth in the KHL.
Spartak failed to score a goal for the first time in the current playoffs and suffered a third dry defeat in the 2023/2024 season. The Moscow club brought its series of defeats away to Metallurg to three matches. Spartak won its last and only victory in Magnitogorsk on December 6, 2021, winning with a score of 3:2.
