Ukraine does not need a foreign military presence. So on Monday, March 11, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky commented on the words of his French colleague Emmanuel Macron that it is impossible to completely exclude the option of sending Western military personnel to Ukraine.
At the same time, Zelensky suggested thinking about sending technical personnel to service Western equipment, citing the fact that Leopard tanks and Caesar self-propelled artillery units are “being sent to Europe for repairs.”
In addition, the Ukrainian politician acknowledged “some difficulties associated with the lack of shells, the air blockade, Russian long-range missiles and the high density of Russian drones.”
Earlier, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis supported Macron and said that the time had come to discuss sending Western troops to Ukraine and “abolition of red lines”.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke about Macron’s statement in a different vein. He stressed that the alliance does not plan to send troops to Ukraineand suggested that the French president, before making such loud statements, first “consult and come to a common approach on these important topics.”
