The Yekaterinburg judge said that he hit the athlete after provocation on his part
In Yekaterinburg, the referee who hit a player of the Uralkhimmash mini-football team explained his action in a conversation with the agency URA.RU.
Earlier, a conflict occurred in a mini-football match between the amateur teams Uralkhimmash and Pamir. During the game, referee Roman Kambarov hit a local team player in the face after the athlete repeatedly insulted the referee in a rude manner. The incident was recorded on a CCTV camera.
According to the judge, the football player began waving his hands in front of his eyes and using obscene language. First, the referee showed him a yellow card, and then a red one, but the athlete did not calm down. Kambarov noted that spectators from the stands shouted at the football player to stop provoking.
“At the same time, he still smiled as if he was deliberately trying to piss me off. I held on for a long time, and then I couldn’t stand it and hit,” Kambarov said.
He admits he shouldn’t have done that. However, Kambarov did not apologize to the player. He believes that the football player should have been the first to take a step towards the meeting and apologize. The referee added that he was not the only one to blame for this conflict.
