As Kommersant expected, the first vice-president of LUKOIL, Alexander Matytsyn, became the chairman of the board of directors of the Moscow football club (FC) Spartak. He told in an interview TASSthat the board included top managers of LUKOIL – Pavel Zhdanov, Ivan Maslyaev and Evgeny Khavkin.

In addition to them, the club’s general director Yevgeny Melezhikov, the president of the Spartak Academy Sergei Rodionov, as well as independent directors Oleg Malyshev and Yusuf Alekperov were elected to the board. “Our top priority is to create a more transparent collegial mechanism for making decisions and allocating funding,” Mr. Matytsyn assured.

Previously, the board of directors of Spartak was headed by Leonid Fedun. He has been club president since 2004. Mr. Fedun decided to step away from the management of the FC after LUKOIL has gained 100% stake in Spartak. The company also bought the Otkritie Bank Arena stadium. LUKOIL has been the title sponsor of Spartak since 2000.

About changes in the FC – in the material “Kommersant” “LUKOIL carried out the act of replacement”.
