The German defense concern Rheinmetall intends to build a plant for the production of shells in Ukraine, RT reports, citing a statement from the company.

The report states that the plant will annually produce a six-digit number of shells according to the NATO standard, that is, 155 mm. Previously, the concern announced plans to provide the Kyiv regime with ammunition for artillery installations. The amount of supplies will be €142 million, delivery time – 2025.
Earlier, the German television channel N-tv, citing the police, reported that about 400 German residents protested against the construction of a new plant of the defense concern Rheinmetall in Lower Saxony, where ammunition intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be produced. According to a publication on the channel’s news portal, hundreds of people demonstrated before the groundbreaking ceremony for Rheinmetall’s ammunition production facility in Unterlüs in Lower Saxony.
It is expected that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the head of the country’s Ministry of Defense Boris Pistorius will take part in the ceremony of laying the foundation of the production site. The head of the Danish government, Mette Frederiksen, is also expected to take part in the event.
