Vladimir Osipov – about the prospects of Bayern in the Champions League

In the play-offs of the Champions League, the first sensation occurred: Lazio beat Bayern Munich with a score of 1:0 in the 1/8 finals. The match took place in Rome. In the second meeting of the day in Paris, PSG beat the Spanish club Real Sociedad 2:0. Kommersant FM sports commentator Vladimir Osipov followed the development of events.
In anticipation of the Champions League matches, football fans received a lot of news – from the sentence of Spartak striker Quincy Promes, who was given a six-year prison sentence in absentia in Holland, to the new sparring partner of the Russian national team, which will meet Paraguay in March. But the football that the clubs produced in the Champions League pushed all this into the background, at least for a few hours.
From the first minutes, Real Sociedad played brilliantly. The players of the Spanish club made sure that nothing worked for the Parisian stars in the first half, and it seemed that a sensation could not be avoided, but after the break everything fell into place. First, Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring, and then Bradley Barcola left the Basques with virtually no chance of reaching the quarterfinals.
Arsen Zakharyan appeared on the field in the second half of the match, but again remained in the shadows. So far, the Russian, who has been playing for Sociedad since August last year, has only one assist. The reasons for such modest results were explained by football analyst Konstantin Kleschev: “Zakharyan ended up in a rather specific club. This is a team where the overwhelming majority, according to written and unwritten rules, are local pupils, where the Basques mainly play. At the moment when Zakharyan somehow psychologically adapts, I think he will be able to show his full potential. For now, of course, Arsen is far from this, but for objective reasons.”
But the fact that Zakharyan again failed to distinguish himself hardly surprised anyone. But what happened in the second match of the day, where Lazio hosted Bayern Munich, definitely made many football fans shrug their shoulders. Bayern, considered one of the contenders to win the Champions League, lost. Yes, with a minimal score, yes, the only goal against Munich was scored from the penalty spot, and there was also a red card, but the fact remains a fact.
Still, troubles within the team make themselves felt. The German press has written more than once that there is no contact between the players and head coach Thomas Tuchel. But, despite all these difficulties, in the return match at the Allianz Arena, Bayern will most likely leave no stone unturned against Lazio. At least, football expert Igor Shalimov gave this forecast live on the federal sports channel: “My forecast is 3:0. Bayern will take out this Lazio. There is always something that we see – a card, a penalty, some kind of deletion, something else.
If this doesn’t work out in favor of Lazio, then I think Bayern will win confidently. But they will gather for this game so much that I don’t envy Lazio.”
But we will only know how things will turn out in reality in March. Next week we will have four more confrontations. Inter – Atlético Madrid, PSV – Borussia, Napoli – Barcelona and Porto – Arsenal will take part.
