The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Navy said that Kyiv will gladly accept two decommissioned British ships
The Ukrainian fleet is ready to happily accept two British frigates, which the British may have to write off due to a shortage of sailors. The commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Alexey Neizhpapa, spoke about this in an interview with Sky News.
Earlier, the Telegraph newspaper reported that the Royal Navy would be forced to abandon the operation of two warships in order to redirect sailors to new frigates. It was specified that the ships HMS Argyll and HMS Westminster are planned to be decommissioned this year. They are supposed to be disposed of or transferred to the allies. At the same time, the ship’s crews will take up duty on the new Type 26 frigates.
Neizhpapa said that the Ukrainian Navy needs warships. Therefore, if a decision is made to transfer them to Kyiv, he will be very happy.
