While residents of Ivanovo are accustomed to boxing, wrestling and some other sports, winter swimming has not yet become one of everyone’s favorite and popular sports. From January 5 to 6, extreme open water winter swimming competitions were held in the Ivanovo region.
Competitions unique to the Ivanovo region were held on Lake Rubskoye. For the competition, the organizers prepared 4 tracks, 25 meters long, and the competition brought together more than 70 swimmers from various regions of Russia and the Republic of Belarus. Athletes determined who was the strongest at distances from 25 to 200 meters using different styles.
On competition days, fans were free to attend all the swims, and the organizers treated them to hot tea and soldier’s porridge.
