24-year-old judoka Madina Taymazova climbed to the first step of the podium following the results of the Grand Slam tournament at the competition in Abu Dhabi. The Russian woman competed in the weight category up to 70 kg. Taymazova’s opponent in the final bout was Swedish representative Ida Eriksson.
As noted, the Grand Slam tournament in Abu Dhabi is a qualification tournament for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Athletes from Russia compete in it as individual neutral participants.
Madina Taymazova is a native of the city of Sunzha, North Ossetia. The girl is a bronze medalist at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, and also twice won bronze medals at the European Championships in 2020 and 2021.
