The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) has suspended Russia’s membership, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the organization’s website.
The corresponding decision was made by the executive board (IBSA) following a special session. Earlier, the General Assembly of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) partially suspended the membership of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) for two years. At the same time, para-athletes from the Russian Federation will be able to participate in the Paralympic Games, but only while maintaining their individual neutral status.
The IBSA reportedly intends to “respect and support” the decision of the International Paralympic Committee. At the same time, Russian and Belarusian para-athletes are also allowed to take part in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, as well as other sporting events under the auspices of the IPC.
