Russians in Turkey talk about Palestinian flags that frightened them

In addition to radical groups, rising prices are frightening
The military conflict between Israel and Palestine has divided the world into two camps, where some support Hamas, and the second support Tel Aviv. Turkey is trying to remain neutral on this issue, but with a clear bias towards the former. These events did not spare the Russian-speaking population of the country. The appearance in cities of flags of organizations considered terrorist in some countries has caused obvious tension among them.
Turkish news channels and print media criticize Israel for creating a humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip. Many have their own correspondents there, who have already faced the death of loved ones as a result of air strikes by the Israeli army. Coverage of military operations on Turkish channels comes almost exclusively from the Palestinian side. The images of destruction and crying people can truly be shocking.
The discovery for the Russian-speaking population of Turkey was, perhaps, the real strong connection between the Turks and the Muslim world. Of course, calls to prayer are heard five times a day in the country, but still Turkey is a Muslim state.
“One of my friends, when it came to the war in Palestine, said that he supports Hamas because they are Muslims. That is, he didn’t even think about it. To be honest, I was somewhat amazed by such solidarity of Muslims around the world,” admitted Russian woman Evgenia.
An action of solidarity with the population of Gaza took place in Antalya. Several dozen cars, continuously honking, drove along the roads with the flags of Turkey and Palestine. And some residents noticed in the city people with flags of the Shiite group Hezbollah, which is considered a terrorist organization in a number of countries.
“We are in Antalya on vacation. When we saw such a large column of cars, we must admit, we were a little surprised. I wasn’t very comfortable and I didn’t feel safe,” Anton, who came to Turkey from Moscow, told MK.
But among the people who moved to Antalya for permanent residence, real disputes began. You won’t be able to intimidate them with flags, but with regular price hikes you can.
After the outbreak of one conflict or another in the world, hundreds and thousands of people flee to the city, trying to take refuge in a safer and calmer place. All this greatly affects the lives of locals. Visitors are starting to buy and rent apartments for any money, which property owners are actively taking advantage of, raising prices.
Information spread on social networks that filled planes from Israel flew to Antalya. And this has again led to fears that apartment prices will soar. Another discussion has begun on social networks about how much everything will rise in price and how much money is needed per month to survive.
On the other hand, there were fears that after the marches with Palestinian flags, no one would really want to invest in Turkish real estate. After all, the Palestinian movement Hamas is a fairly radical group, which can also be said about Hezbollah.
So life in Turkey can hardly be called calm: earthquakes, inflation and regular conflicts among neighbors – all this occupies a lot of people’s attention.
