The Finnish authorities intend to simplify the seizure of real estate from Russian citizens. This was stated by Minister of Justice Lina Meri, Yle reports.
According to her, the Finnish Cabinet seeks to facilitate the process of confiscation of real estate owned by Russians and shares in housing cooperatives.
According to Yle, Russian property owners are “increasingly failing to fulfill their legal obligations.” According to Finnish law enforcement agencies, the number of penalties against them has increased. Russians cannot pay taxes in Finland, since their accounts in Finnish banks are partially closed, and there are no banking connections between the Russian Federation and Finland, the TV channel explains.
