Chairman of the 77th UN General Assembly, Hungarian diplomat Csaba Körösi called on the parties to the conflict in Ukraine to ceasefire and start negotiations, informed TASS.

According to him, the conflict must be stopped. “I reiterate the call made by the member countries of the General Assembly for an immediate ceasefire, unhindered access to humanitarian assistance and a return to dialogue and diplomacy,” said Kyoryoshi.

The day before, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reminded about Moscow’s readiness to start negotiations with Kyiv about what is happening in Ukraine. He stressed that without early negotiations, the process of concluding a treaty would become increasingly difficult. But in an interview with CNN, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declaredthat the Ukrainian side is currently not ready for negotiations with Russia. According to him, neither the European countries nor Ukraine will start negotiations with Russia as long as the special military operation continues. The press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov also notedthat now there are no prerequisites for negotiations between the presidents of the two countries.

Since the beginning of the special operation, Russia and Ukraine have held negotiations several times. The first three face-to-face meetings took place in Belarus: on February 28, representatives of Russia and Ukraine met in the Gomel region, and then on March 3 and 6, negotiations continued in Belovezhskaya Pushcha. The fourth round of the Russian-Ukrainian dialogue took place on March 29 in Istanbul. But later the process was frozen at the initiative of the Ukrainian side.
