CNN: US imposes first ever fine for space debris

The United States has imposed the first fine in the history of planet Earth for space debris in orbit, CNN reports.
The fine was reportedly imposed on the company that provides satellite television services to Dish Network. The company reportedly failed to properly dispose of its failed satellite, for which it was fined $150,000.
The US Communications Commission has reportedly stepped up efforts to combat space debris, and the fine against Dish Network was the first step in this direction.
