Specialists from the Rosselkhoznadzor Office for the Trans-Baikal Territory identified sausage products with DNA from the African swine fever virus (ASF) in 593 stores in the region. As the department’s press service reported, we are talking about Fileyskaya sausage produced by Starodvorskie Sausages CJSC, registered in the Vladimir region.
“In order to protect the territory of Transbaikalia from the emergence and spread of a dangerous disease, product owners must, under the supervision of state veterinary specialists located at the location of the stores, immediately destroy infected products in accordance with the requirements of current legislation and disinfect the storage area,” notes the document. message.
The department clarifies that African swine fever does not pose a danger to humans, but affects domestic and wild pigs. There is no vaccine against ASF. The viral disease is characterized by rapid spread and a high degree of mortality in infected animals. The African swine fever virus is extremely stable in the external environment and persists in soil for up to 112 days, in raw meat for up to 188 days, and in smoked meat for up to 150 days.
As previously reported, on September 19 in Yakutia, the regional veterinary department declared about the discovery of the ASF virus genome in Stolichnaya ham of the Vyazanka brand. The ham was also produced by ZAO Starodvorskie Sausages. The products were withdrawn from sale and destroyed. “Vyazanka” ham from the contaminated batch arrived in Aldansky, Lensky, Neryungrinsky, Mirny districts and the city of Yakutsk for sale from the Novosibirsk and Vladimir regions.
