Moscow expects that Russia’s partners will “share with us their assessments” of the results of the meeting in Jeddah on Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
“In them [консультациях] our like-minded people on BRICS and other partners took part. We expect that, in accordance with the agreements, they will share their assessments with us and reaffirm our position on the so-called “peace formula” [президента Украины Владимира] Zelensky, which the Kiev regime and the West are trying to promote during such meetings,” Zakharova said, her words leads press office.
According to the representative, none of the paragraphs of Ukraine’s proposals “is aimed at finding a negotiated and diplomatic solution to the crisis, and their totality is a senseless ultimatum to Russia.” At the same time, the Foreign Ministry appreciated the mediation and humanitarian initiatives of “friends from the countries of the Global South.”
“Unlike the Kiev regime, which interrupted and banned negotiations with Russia, we have always been and remain open to a diplomatic solution to the crisis and are ready to respond to really serious proposals,” Zakharova said and stressed that without the participation of the Russian Federation in the negotiations, “no meetings on the topic Ukrainian crisis do not have the slightest added value.
The talks were held in Saudi Jeddah on August 5-6. At it, Ukraine was supposed to present its “peace formula”, about 40 states took part in the meeting, but Russia was not at the meeting. Zakharova noted that if the Saudi Arabia talks on Ukraine “help the West understand the whole dead end of the Zelensky plan, then they will not be useless.”
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov reported that Moscow would follow these negotiations. August 4 newspaper Politico reportedthat Saudi Arabia could inform Russia about the outcome of the peace meeting. Later, this information was confirmed to RIA Novosti by a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The 10 conditions of the “peace formula” from Ukraine, which were announced by President Zelensky in the fall of 2022, include the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity, the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory, fixing the end of the conflict, as well as ensuring food, energy and nuclear security.
