Putin signed a law on the right of fathers to demand child support after three years of raising a child
In the Russian Federation, a law was passed allowing fathers to demand alimony. The corresponding document was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It is clarified that such a right is granted to a man if he is raising a child alone for three years from the date of birth. The ex-spouse will also be able to claim alimony.
The new law amends articles 89 and 90 of the Family Code of the Russian Federation. Previously, women had the right to demand alimony during pregnancy and within three years from the date of birth of a common child. At the same time, a man could receive a similar right only upon reaching retirement age, disability, or if the common child was disabled.
