Government of the Belgorod Region reported on the suspension from June 3 of commuter trains running on the Belgorod-Nezhegol-Belgorod route. This decision was made in connection with the aggravation of the situation in the Shebekinsky urban district, which is under massive shelling from Ukraine.

Officials promised to inform about the resumption of transportation on this route.

Authorities suspended the movement of the train on the route Belgorod-Nezhegol-Belgorod in April last year. Then, as a result of the explosion, the canvas collapsed near the railway bridge across the Nezhegol River near the village of Titovka, which is located about 7 km from the border with Ukraine. The railway was then used by an electric train that ran twice a week between Belgorod and Nezhegol. After the restoration of the canvas, its movement was resumed.

Shebekinsky urban district is subjected to massive shelling from Ukraine. Due to the difficult situation, local residents leave the settlements. Today, as a result of another shelling died two people, two were injured. According to local authorities, a fairly large number of people remain in Shebekino, so officials are working on the delivery of water, medicines, and the opening of some outlets. According to the head of the local administration, Vladimir Zhdanov, network and resource-supplying organizations will soon begin to restore mobile communications, electricity and water supply in the city.
