An earthquake of magnitude 6.3 was recorded near the northern Kuril Islands, there were no casualties and no damage, reported Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sakhalin Region. The tsunami warning was not issued.
According to the agency, tremors were registered 287 km northeast of the city of Severo-Kurilsk at a depth of 99 km. The Ministry of Emergency Situations clarifies that “the sensibility of a seismic event was up to 2 points.”
“Calls to the helpline and telephones of emergency services have not been received. The operational groups of the administration of the municipality and the local fire and rescue garrison are inspecting buildings and structures for possible damage, ”added the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies.
Earlier today, April 3, happened earthquake of magnitude 6.9 in the south of the Kamchatka Territory. There were no casualties, but several buildings got damage. The threat of a tsunami was also not announced.
