Peskov called the conditions for the transition of the situation in Ukraine to a new direction

A peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is impossible until Russia’s demands are taken into account. This was stated by the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.
“All Moscow’s demands are well known. The de facto situation and the new realities are also well known. Without taking into account this set of issues, the transition to a peaceful direction is impossible,” he said, answering a question about changing the position of Kyiv so that a peaceful way to resolve the conflict appears.
On the eve, March 13, Peskov also said about the absence of prerequisites for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. He added that the goals of the special operation can only be achieved by military means.
Since the beginning of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the parties have held negotiations several times in February and March 2022. The first three face-to-face meetings took place in Belarus in February-March, and the fourth round of the Russian-Ukrainian dialogue was held on March 29 in Istanbul. After that, the process was frozen, since Kyiv withdrew from it.
Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is open to negotiations. At the same time, Ukraine has a document preventing their resumption. On October 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree refusing to negotiate with Russia as long as Vladimir Putin is its president.
